What the demise of Christianity in Europe means for the continent
According to a 2015 Pew Research projection the number of Christians in Europe is forecast to drop by 100 million from 2010 to 2050. Two-thirds of Europeans will likely identify as Christians in 2050, even as the population of Christians continues to dwindle.
Multiple religious groups will are projected to increase their share of the population in Europe between 2010 and 2050. The most notable being Islam. The percentage of Muslims in Europe is projected to increase to over 10% by 2050. This will be nearly double the share of the population Muslims held in 2010.
As Europe increasingly becomes multi-religious, multi-ethnic, and multicultural, I foresee many more problems facing Europeans if they don’t take action and reverse these trends.
I will break down what I believe lead to the current identity crisis in many European nations.
- The loss of religion in many European countries has lead to rampant secularism. These increasingly secular societies eschew their long held traditions, values, customs, and beliefs.
- The traditional and cultural norms in these countries that were strongly Christian, are replaced by an irrational belief in egalitarianism and multiculturalism.
- When religious adherence and regular church attendance was the norm, the people of these nations held on to their culture and established traditions. The church was able to enforce traditional culture and maintain its influence on the public and preserve the primacy of the native people in their nations.
- Now people in many European nations have been indoctrinated to believe that everyone is equal and non-Europeans are just like them. They believe that multiculturalism is acceptable. These people will go to great lengths to defend and tolerate multiculturalism.
If Europeans fail to realize what actually lead to this current state of affairs, I fear Europe could collapse in the coming century. Western Europe won’t be recognizable. The native population is in danger of being replaced by foreigners. European nations need to get a grip on their societies, reduce immigration, and return to traditional values; or face extinction. This is the only way to save Europe and western civilization.
